Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a reality. Warner Bros. Animation and Nickelodeon joined forces to bring this story to the big screen, based on the great crossover from writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie Williams II released in 2015.
A cross-dimensional team-up
In 2015, DC Comics and IDW Publishing — which acquired the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a few years ago — published this crossover comic series that brought Batman together with the Ninja Turtles. A comic that, to the surprise and delight of all fans, will now get its animated movie. In "Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", the Turtles will have a transdimensional encounter with the Dark Knight and, despite the "versus" in the title, they will be allies to defeat the gallery of Gotham's villains, who are allied with Shredder's mafia.
Batman vs TMNT will be directed by Jake Castorena, one of the directors behind The Death of Superman, an animated film released last year. The script is by Marly Halpern-Graser, who has worked with Bruce Wayne's alter ego on Batman Unlimited and on several well-known series such as M.A.D and Bum, Pum, Kapow!.
The voices behind the movie
The feature will also include well-known voices from both video games and television. Let's start with the good guys: Troy Baker (Batman: Arkham Origins) will play Batman and Joker, the Turtles will have Darren Criss (ACS: The Assassination of Gianni Versace) as Raphael, Eric Bauza (The Fairly OddParents) as Leonardo, Kyle Mooney (SNL) as Michelangelo, and Baron Vaughn (Grace & Frankie) as Donatello. In addition, Brian George (Big Bang Theory) will be Alfred, Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) will play Batgirl, and Ben Giroux will be Robin.
Now for the villains, among whom we have the great Tara Strong (Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, Rugrats, Samurai Jack), who as always will voice Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. John DiMaggio (Adventure Time) as Mr. Freeze, Carlos Alazraqui as Bane, Tom Kenny as Penguin, and Keith Ferguson will voice Two-Face and Baxter Stockman.
The release of Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be mid-year, and it will come out digitally and on Blu-ray. We can't wait to see it!
