Four models lead Huawei’s Mate 90 launch
Huawei presents the Mate 90 series in China on Oct. 1, 2026. Sales begin within hours through online and offline stores, including third-party retailers.
Mate 90 Pro Max pairs a large display with a 6,800mAh battery
The Mate 90 Pro Max has a reported 6.9-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its reported battery capacity is 6,800mAh, with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The processor depends on the RAM configuration: 12GB models use Kirin 9050, while 16GB models use Kirin 9050 Pro. The Pro Max runs HarmonyOS 7. For more on Huawei’s chip design, read our earlier coverage of the Kirin 9050 Pro.
Ruiying Z10 is an external camera option
The Ruiying Z10 is an external camera module associated with the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition. It has a separate 1-inch RYYB sensor and, according to its reported specifications, 10× continuous optical zoom across a 24–240mm focal range, with an f/2.0–f/4.5 aperture range. It is a distinct module, not a camera built into the phone.
Mate 90 RS and Huawei’s claimed improvements
The Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design has a 6.9-inch tandem OLED display with a resolution of 2,848 × 1,320 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its brightness figures refer to different conditions: 2,200 nits for full-screen excitation, and local peaks of 6,000 nits at 20% average picture level (APL) and 12,000 nits at 1% APL.
A 42-second promotional film presents the RS’s textured two-tone rear and octagonal camera module.
Huawei claims the Mate 90 generation delivers up to 31% higher performance than the previous generation. It also attributes 37% higher overall color accuracy and 62% higher skin-tone accuracy to True-to-Color 3.0.
