We've said it more than once: when crossovers are done right, their potential is huge. Fighting games have seen some great ones so far—Marvel vs. Capcom, SNK vs. Capcom, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe—and the list goes on. Next February, it's Jump Force's turn, a game that brings together multiple universes from the classic Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump. What does that mean? You'll be able to see Yugi Mutou and his combat cards face off against Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza.
Many series that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump became cornerstones of manga and anime. Mazinger Z, Dr. Slump, Captain Tsubasa, Fist of the North Star, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya—these are gigantic names, and honestly, I haven't even reached the 90s. Then came Yu-Gi-Oh!, the seemingly endless One Piece (90 volumes and counting), Naruto, Bleach, Death Note… in short, titans of the market. Now, what if the main heroes and villains of those universes clashed in a common arena? I'll admit it wouldn't be an easy crossover to pull off, but Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco have everything ready to unleash Jump Force. Would you like to see?
Yugi vs. Goku: The Trailer
That's right: Yugi vs. Goku in an unprecedented duel. The Yu-Gi-Oh! saga has been flirting with augmented reality recently, and it's still worth revisiting the classic games, but now it's less about cards and more about fighting. The trailer doesn't reveal much, but it confirms that both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl will be part of Yugi's arsenal, and he also seems to have his Egyptian god, Slifer. On the Z Warriors' side, the only ones shown so far are Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. There's no news on Cell (remember, you can watch his entire saga in five minutes) nor any connection to new material (like the upcoming Broly movie), but I imagine they'll include more characters in the near future.

Dragon Ball and Yu-Gi-Oh! join Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, and One Piece in Jump Force. For now, there are 20 characters from seven different universes, and available information suggests a special appearance by Light Yagami and Ryuk (Death Note) in story mode, as well as "original characters" created by none other than Akira Toriyama. Jump Force will be available on Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, although judging by the graphics, I think a Switch port wouldn't be too far-fetched.
