Imagine you are preparing a text or document that requires special symbols. You know exactly which symbols you need, but you have no idea how to invoke them with the keyboard. In most cases, the Windows Character Map should be enough, but if you prefer to draw instead of browsing through hundreds of symbols by hand, you might want to take a closer look at Mausr, which identifies advanced symbols from simple doodles.
Question: Who remembers how to type the ¾ symbol on a keyboard? Most people prefer to cheat and write "3/4", letting the word processor handle the conversion. We must admit that "alt+0190" is not something you can easily remember. It’s a different story with the ñ, the @, or the euro symbol, three examples that even on US ANSI keyboards can be typed without a problem, but there are symbols living in absolute obscurity.
The "flashlight" to find them is the famous Windows Character Map (and its equivalents on other operating systems). The style varies depending on the font, though in generic designs like Arial and Times New Roman, all codes work perfectly. The big problem with the Character Map is that it's very uncomfortable. There are hundreds of symbols per font, and searching for one among all of them is tedious. Now... if we know exactly which symbol we want, isn't there some way to "draw" it?
How to identify a Unicode symbol?
That's when Mausr comes to the rescue. With the help of a neural network in the background, Mausr can recognize hand-drawn symbols and find their Unicode or HTML equivalent. It works immediately and requires no prior registration. Once you finish drawing, Mausr will present what it thinks are the closest results, even with very low confidence percentages.
